Why is an Extended Validation Certificate better?

The EV certificate is the state of the art when it comes to SSL certificates.
This type of certificate checks not only if you are the owner of the domain name for which the certificate is intended, but also your company details plus whether the certificate has actually been requested by someone from your company.

What does this look like? Well, this type of certificate works in the same way as a basic SSL certificate* in terms of security, but adds extra business information.

Basic SSL Certificate: you want to secure one domain name

This type of SSL certificate is perfect when you want to secure a single domain name (and its www version) quickly and easily.
This 'domain validation' certificate is issued in just a few minutes!

When you order this type of certificate, a simple check is performed to ascertain whether you actually manage the domain name for which you order the certificate.

Do you use our name servers? Then we can perform this check fully automatically for you.

Do you use your own name servers? Then you can prove in different ways that you are actually managing that domain name, e.g. through an e-mail, by making an adjustment in the name servers or by publishing a file in a hidden place on the web server.

Wildcard certificates: you want to secure multiple subdomains

This type of SSL certificate makes it possible to secure all direct subdomains of your domain name with just one certificate. So: *.yourname.be, www.yourname.be, leads.yourname.be, mail.yourname.be - and all possible other subdomains are all equally protected by the wildcard certificate.

Multidomain certificates: you want to secure multiple domain names

With the multi-domain SSL certificate you choose a real cost-saving solution when you want to secure multiple domain names. Sometimes, each certificate requires its own IP address. You can solve this problem with a multidomain certificate: you manage all your names under one certificate. Very convenient!
