The new gTLDs
The new extensions offer lots of opportunities:
- They can offer a solution for names which weren't available anymore under .com or .be
- They can provide a possibility to make clear your main activity
Unfortunately those new gTLDs also bring along certain threats. One of those threats is that new gTLDs provide extra chances to cybersquatters to abuse your good name. Therefore you need to decide now how and under which extensions you'll protect your name. That's why we offer you the possibility to already pre-register your name under those new gTLDs.
Which extensions will be released?
Here you'll find an overview of all applications for new gTLDs and their presumed release date. Like that you can plan your pre-registrations.
How does such a release work?
The release of each extensions will begin with a sunrise period of at least 30 days. During this period owners of a registered trademark who applied at TradeMark ClearingHouse (TMCH) will be given the possibility to register their mark under this new extension. What happens after the sunrise may differ for each extension. Or the extension will be made available for everyone immediately after the sunrise or there can be multiple sunrises before the general availability.
